The Angeleri family purchased this beautiful property at the Mt. Snow ski resort in West Dover, Vermont in 1967. The original purchase was for undeveloped land only until 1975 when the original owners decided to sell their 1790 Greek Revival home along with additional property. We then took on the challenge to totally gut and remodel the home and transform it back to its original glory, but with updated systems to make it much more livable, economical and safer than the old original structure. The home that is adjacent to the condo development but protected by 26 acres of green space, has served as an Angeleri Family Home compound since then and has many fine memories to be cherished forever.
A truly unique feature of the home is the fact that it was originally built in 1790 on the top of the property but actually moved down the mountain to its current location with two teams of oxen in the winter. The story is that they had too much trouble with Indians and felt safer closer to the road.
The local zoning board was contemplating changing our zoning from one unit per acre to one unit in five acres so we put forth a significant effort and financial investment to procure our local as well as state zoning allowing one unit per acre. It took us nearly three years but we were able to keep our original one unit per acre zoning and we now have a 72 unit townhouse condominium project approved. A fully approved project of this type is very, very rare in the state of Vermont because it takes some much time and money to procure not only the local zoning approvals but the “Act 250” state zoning approvals as well. We now have a “Shovel Ready” project, meaning it has all the approvals in place, more water than we actually need for the project and sufficient sewer capacity in place. This means that we could literally put a shovel in the ground immediately and start construction.
This project is currently available for sale either as an outright, cash sale or through some form of “owner participation”. The home is not part of the condo project but could be negotiable.
